Whilst these short precis convey the content of each story, reading the stories in full will give you far greater insight about what abuse is, and the ongoing effects of it.
Story Two

Vicky Jennings had a happy childhood in a well to do, secure and loving family.  Whilst growing up she always sought to develop her talents and use them not only to her own best advantage, but to other people’s as well. Today she’s an extrovert with a vocal sense of humour and she enjoys her work as a partner in a business consultancy. On closer inspection, her childhood wasn’t entirely happy after all, as whilst she was growing up she couldn’t get away from the boy who was the son of one of her parent’s closest friends.  When this boy was fourteen and Vicky was eight, he started to abuse her sexually, and this went on until she was eleven, when she made it stop. When she turned sixteen and her abuser was around twenty-two, Vicky wrote a balanced and fair letter to him, fully detailing what abuse he had done.  All Vicky was yearning for was simply an apology and some kind of closure, because the memories of what she had gone through as a child were still very much with her, and were tearing her up.  Later on at university when she was twenty, Vicky met her husband, and now eight years on they maintain a mutually supportive marriage, each sharing a fulfilling mixture of friendships as well.
How do survivors cope with their families later on in life?
